Top 3 Best Angry Music
I have been listening to a lot of The Aquabats recently, so I plan on taking this list a slightly different direction. I will be discussing the three angry songs that The Aquabats play.
#1, Chemical Bomb
This song doesn’t come off as an “angry” song at its outset. It sounds more like music you would hear in a Mexican restaurant or an elevator. However, once you hit the first chorus, you realize that it is a ballad of misanthropic proportions. Throughout the song, the singer imagines people dying in horrible ways, such as being decapitated by a horseman, turning into beasts, or melting due to the explosion of a chemical bomb. This song is particularly calming due to its laid back melody and super violent lyrics. Any time you’re having a bad day due to the actions of others (traffic, maybe?) this song is great to listen to.
#2, I Fell Asleep On My Arm
Album:
This song is a parody of the style used by the likes of Korn, Limp Bizkit, Papa Roach, Rage Against the Machine and Kid Rock. I picked this song because I believe it demonstrates how taking an attitude about some perceived injustice is usually comical. Righteous indignation is not hard to feign, nor is it particularly inspiring. Essentially, this song reinforces my belief in the comical nature of life and why anger is rarely necessary.
#3, The Thing On The Bass Amp
Album:
This song is a little more out there, but bear with me. This song underlines what is likely a primary cause of anger. The song mentions an old man coming to town with a “creature of habit” and continues to describe one of the most destructive tendencies of mankind: “Ask someone what went wrong / They’ll say it’s not their fault.” The mental exercises that people play to exonerate their misdeeds and dmeonize others. It’s commonly referred to as a victim mentality. To futher drive home this point, here’s another set of lyrics:
- The Thing
- That climbs into your head at night
- The Thing
- With selfish teeth and greedy eyes
- The Thing
- That helps you escape your mistake
- The Thing
- There’s something else that you can blame
So much anger can be stored up in this evasive technique. However, there’s one thing that can be said: it’s a lie.
